Grow with Google: Learner Story

In 2023, Shaun Simmons walked into a small business launch session hosted by Dayton Equity Center with a lot of questions. This session entitled “Launch Your Business with Customer-Focused Marketing” covers creating a business plan based off of current marketing trends and digital platforms for sales.

This session intrigued Shaun based off of his passion for art, design, and personal growth, which led him and his late brother to dream up a clothing line called “UBAUL”, You Believe & Achieve Unlimited Levels. After his brother’s sudden passing and his moms declining health, Shaun put his dream on hold. Following his family’s hardships, Shaun was sentenced to 5 years of community control after failing to pay child support.

10 years later, the Grow with Google training is inspiring Shaun to dream again with eyes wide open. Through Dayton Equity Center, Shaun has learned how to navigate Google Drive, and utilize Google Analytics, Google Domains, and Google Sites to achieve results in alignment with his business goals, marketing, and brand development. As he pursues job opportunities that will allow him more time to pursue his passion, training to launch a Google Site has inspired Shaun to re-engage his creativity and his brother’s legacy.
